ABOUT PHILIP THOMAS
I'm a father to two beautiful little girls and married to the love of my life. I'm a Brit in Texas and grew up in the small English city of Chichester, Sussex and I've nurtured my passion for photography for over twenty five years. I'm not sure how I really fell into photography. I know I was very young. It might have been when I growing up and tinkering around with my dad's old Polaroid instamatic. All those buttons and instant prints. Then I bought an old 35mm camera and took tons of pictures. I was hooked.
My first 'project' was Fishbourne Roman Palace when I was just 10 years old. As a newspaper photographer in my early 20's, I spent considerable time shooting press stories and using up abnormal amounts of black and white photographic paper, honing my craft, much to the dismay of my newspaper editor.
It was during my travels in 2002 that I met my wife, Marcie whilst working together on Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.
How did we meet? Through ketchup. Let me explain. I'm English, OK. Totally useless when it comes to being forward. I didn't know what to say. I knew I liked her. So I asked her to pass the ketchup at the dinner table. Nothing happened but at least I got eye contact. Two weeks passed and somehow I managed to sum up the courage to say hello as we left port during a deck party. And then miraculously, we dated over the course of four years and in 2006, I made the move from the UK to San Antonio, Texas. In-between shooting pictures every day, we're busy raising our daughters, Lily and Emma.
